Post  MaxWeiner on Thu Feb 12, 2009 7:27 pm

My name is Jordahn, my Weiner's is Max.
I am 15 year old loli and I enjoy unuseful things like reading and listening to Alien Sex Fiend.
My favorite movie is Return of the Living Dead and I'm more on the "I like zombies and I WISH this would happen" side than "I am a survivalist and I THINK this will happen I just bought a tank on ebay and I have a bunker in my grandma's backyard stocked with 6 months worth of food and I know how to use a bazuka and I am building a jetpack" side. But I would actually take this more seriously once it became more larger and organized. I really am into survivalism though (not many actions to back up my words) and Zday is a way to channel my interests through another thing I love. I like to write and that's one of the only useful talents I have, aside from being an active member and trying to give as much input/learn as much as possible. I am a very opinionated person. I like the color purple.

Post  weirdbeard on Tue Feb 17, 2009 3:27 pm

i'm Weirdbeard, older than most on here, i currently am in the san francisco area. I'm a big fan of Z fiction as well as dig the movies. I am well versed in small unit tactics, solo tactics (armed and unarmed), very good at leading elements from 2-30, currently qualified expert on all US small arms, crew served, NATO, soviet arms, shotguns. As for survival training, i can do tropic, wilderness, and desert, just finished a snow course. If it's broke i can fix it, i have more medical training than your average bear and will prolly go ahead and become RN qualified. Scuba, tons of driving schools, offensive and defensive. I'm currently building an expedition vehicle for a trip to south america. I can get by in several languages and pick them up quickly. While i'm not on here alot i do try and stop by in between work trips.

As for gear, TONS. Hopefully i can add some insight to the discussions here as well as fill in some blanks in the tech oriented posts. Feel free to ask anything.

Post  FlyingPony on Thu Feb 26, 2009 5:11 pm

Sup everyone. My name's Jim. I am sixteen and I live here in the wonderful state of Maine. I spend my summers in Wyoming working on a ranch, so I am an extremely good Western style horseman. None of that English style crap though, thats for lameos. As well as horse riding, I am certified in wilderness first aid, have a fair amount of experience in backpacking and low impact camping/hiking, and some decent mountaineering skills. I keep in very good shape. Being at around 7,000 feet each summer helps, but I run most days each week, even during the summer, and I play soccer for our school's varsity team. So rooster, when the zombies are chasing us, you had better be able to keep up with me. I must say that I am a pretty bad shot with rifles, although I am decent with a shotgun and a revolver. I also have a good knowledge of chemicals, their properties and stuff like that. Hell yeah AP Chemistry class.

Re: Introductions

Post  TheInvisibleMage on Fri Mar 20, 2009 5:47 pm

I'm TheInvisibleMage. Joined ages ago, but never really did anything except lurk. Now I'm back, and probably going to actually post. I live in the Yarra Ranges, in what is basically rainforest, with only small communities nearby, which I suppose will help come Z-day. I'm reasonably good with survival stuff, though most of my skills revolve around electronics, so I plan to set up a wind turbine at some point. I already have a solar panel set up to charge a few car batteries, which I've used before to power my laptop, but its only a tiny panel and takes quite a while to charge.

I plan to go camping out in the forest tonight. Rereading all the old threads has made me want to prepare. Very Happy

Skills:
Some Survival/camping stuff
Anything electronic, I'm good with.
Reasonable leadership skills
Can sort of cook, I love making this awesome ham/salami/chilli soup. Its like 90% water, but its a good way to wake up. I can also cook normal food reasonably well.

Lacking Skills:
Little to no experience with any kind of weaponry, only things I could really use would be the chainsaw, brushcutter, woodsplitter, machete, and other stuff from my shed.
Very little medical knowledge, I know CPR and what to do with snake bites, but thats about it.
Brutality, I feel guilty if I step on a snail, so I'm not going to be able to hunt.
Adaptation, though I can practically leap up trees, run down and uphill, and hide extremely well in the forest, I am hopeless at anything in cities/suburban areas. I just seem to be bad at stuff when I don't have a bunch of trees around me and leaves under my feet.

I'm also the only ZAC member in Victoria, at least according to the map.

See ya around.

Jesk, yo

Post  Jesk on Sun May 31, 2009 3:37 am

Hey, I'm Jesk.
I'm 17 and I hail from Australia. 170cm, 60kg. I'm not 100% sure what to write after this bit, so I'll start with the pointless stuff.
I like camping, especially survival-style - heading out into the bush with a few plastic bags, a knife, clothes and a packet of matches. I used to be in the boy scouts, so I learned a lot of the useful stuff there (knots and such), but a fair bit of knowledge comes from first hang screw ups.
I sail when I get the chance, but I don't live on the coast, so it's not so often.
I like to write, but I have a bad habit of slipping slang terms and other languages into my writing to a point where it's impossible to understand. I'm not a fiction writer, it's mostly blogging and poetry/lyrics. Let's get some introspection up in this bitch, yeah?
I play drums and guitar, and I'm trying to learn keyboard. Music is the only constant, so it's nice to have a firm base like that to stand on.
I used to box, but had to quit recently due to some back problems. I take Teng-Su-Do classes instead now.
I get bored when I'm not constantly involved in projects. Sitting down, waiting, is pretty trying on me. I can usually get over this by carrying around a notepad and pen, but on those occasions that I have no choice but to sit aimlessly, I twitch and fidget a lot.
I'm a vegetarian, but there are limitations. If I have no choice, I would rather follow the food chain than starve. I'm not against the eating of meat; I'm against the farming of animals. I consider life in general to be pretty awesome, so locking things up seems cruel. If I catch something wild, or fish it, or a friend does so, I'm more than happy to eat it. Food chain, yeah? I eat a lot more than most people, but it's mostly organic stuff.
=\
I haven't left myself much leeway in regards to a way to finish this off, so I guess I'll just say that I'm ... still Jesk... and I guess I'll get to know you eventually. afro

=\ I just went to the the local KMart (not really local, but in the town over) and bought a Au$150 keyboard. I'm not sure it even has a brand... but I'm too lazy to sit up and go into the next room to check. Do you learn by ear to via instruction/music sheets?
