Blood Type and why you should know it.
In the event of a catastrophic emergency like a zombie outbreak, knowing your blood type could save yours and someone elses life if say they were shot or stabed or any such accident and lots blood lots of blood, a transfusion would be nessicary, but who knows their blood type and what it means, while I am no hemotologist or phlebotomist my sister is, so I donated blood and they told me my type, O negotive, which means I can give blood to anyone of anyblood type, pretty useful if say someone needs blood and there's no equipment to find out blood types after it all goes to shit.

I found out mine the same way. I also paid attention to the clotting test and know that I clot particularly well, which is a mixed blessing

Re: blood type/other medical info
While I couldn't find any information of how to preform one and my sister in law's profession deals more with testing blood. I was able to extract from her that you must know how much blood was lost cause having too much blood is bad, anyways here's what I figure, you need 2 needles and 2 plastic tubes all of them sterelized as well as a vessel, be it plastic bag or milk jug anyways the donor pumps it into the container and then it is held over the one who needs blood's head and thus gravity fed to the patient.

Re: blood type/other medical info
i think that in this situation, someone who has lost enough blood to need a transfusion should go out like a champ. the amount of time it would take, the amount of risk it presents to everyone else around... if it was me, i would ask for a gun, and a cigar. I imagine that if i don't make it, i will make a damn good run.

Re: blood type/other medical info
At some point this will be useful I guess. I mean zombie apocalypse doesn't entirely mean you're only going to be capping zombies. Eventually there will be a need to start giving secondary aid to people like this. Having blood drives would be a good way to get good press, and raise awareness of people blood type. Might be a bit more useful in a non zombie disaster though

blood type/other medical info
I'm thinking about getting a tattoo of a blood bag with my blood type on it. I realized, I don't know my own blood type. Are there anymore important things everyone should know such as this?

Re: blood type/other medical info
Well if you want to find out your blood type and "save a life" donate blood to red cross they send you a card with your type on it, that would probably be better than a tattoo cause anyone giving you blood would know to look in your wallet rather than search your body for tattoos, unless they were making lampshades or something, anyways I'm Type O negotive, which means I can give blood to anyone, not sure what the other ones mean but I think I can only get type O neg blood which is a pretty bad hinderance I guess, then again I'm chock full of blood.
Other things to know, Ehh I dunno, Medical conditions probably, like diabetes and comunicable diseases though thats probably on a medical bracelet thing.
